The history of our Park dates back to 1996. At the time, representatives from academia, business, financial institutions, local government and government agencies met at a conference on the idea of technology parks. It was initiated by the Wrocław City Hall, the Lower Silesian Chamber of Commerce and the Foundation for the Development of Wrocław University of Technology.
These discussions resulted in the establishment of the Initiative Group for the implementation of the project – Technology Park in Wrocław. It included representatives from:
- Wrocław University of Technology,
- Agricultural University of Wrocław (now University of Environmental and Life Sciences), ,
- University of Wrocław,
- Wrocław University of Technology Development Foundation,
- Academy of Economics (now University of Economics),
- Dolmel Investment Company sp. z o. o.,
- Lower Silesian Chamber of Commerce,
- Wrocław Voivod (representing the State Treasury),
- Wrocław Municipality.
It was the activities of the Initiative Group that laid the foundation for the launch of the Wrocław Technology Park. They created a joint-stock company structure that was to become the framework for the park’s operation. Subsequently, in accordance with the project adopted by the members, they became founding shareholders of the company, established on 10 July 1998 (the Academy of Economics did not join and did not become a shareholder).
The creation of the WPT was important not only for Wrocław, but also for the whole of Lower Silesia. Its creation was part of the region’s development strategy adopted by the local authorities of the Lower Silesian Voivodship. Intensive efforts led to the first Gamma Building, which was completed six years after the creation of the company, in 2004. Another Beta building was completed just two years later. The first companies have started to move into WPT.

The real flowering of our Park is linked to the project “From Wrocław Technology Park to Innopolis Wrocław”, implemented with EU funding. It has enabled us to create a rich laboratory and office infrastructure. During the course of the project, five facilities were built, which today, together with Gamma and Beta, form a complex that brings together WPT’s dynamic business environment:
- Alfa building – completed in 2009
- Delta building – completed in 2012
- Omega building – completed in 2012
- Lambda building – completed in 2013
- Sigma building – completed in 2015
- Hala Nowa Siódemka building – completed in 2015
However, we are not resting on our laurels, we are constantly evolving to fulfil our mission and promote entrepreneurship and innovation.

Revitalization of the Nowa 7 hall
Wrocław Technology Park invested PLN 50 million in the revitalization of one of the largest production and warehouse halls in Wrocław. Formerly known as W-7, the facility now operates as Nowa 7 – a hall measuring 286 m in length and 80 m in width, offering production, warehouse and office spaces for rent.
The walls of this historic hall, built in the early 1940s, hold a rich part of Wrocław’s industrial history. The facility was originally part of Linke-Hofmann-Werke AG Breslau, the largest pre-war industrial plant in the city and one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of railway carriages and locomotives. Severely damaged during World War II, the factory was rebuilt after the war and for more than 50 years operated as Państwowa Fabryka Wagonów PAFAWAG, producing railway wagons.
Today, under the name Nowa 7, the hall is experiencing a true renaissance. It stands out with its modern form, clean and simple lines rising majestically upwards, and distinctive glazing combined with original red brick, preserving its industrial character.
The three-nave production and warehouse hall, with a total area exceeding 20,000 sqm, is designed to host several companies – and countless good ideas and positive energy.
Over 25 years of experience
In 2023, Wrocław Technology Park celebrated its 25th anniversary, showcasing different facets of its work through the #25latWPT campaign. Over nearly a quarter of a century, hundreds of companies have operated on the campus, and WTP has become one of the largest technology parks in Poland – a place where Wrocław’s entrepreneurship, science and innovation grow.
The campaign portrayed the Park through 25 stories – voices of entrepreneurs, partners, representatives of the academic community and members of the WTP team. Each story offered a different perspective on an institution that, over the years, has supported companies on their journey from idea to implementation, providing space, laboratory facilities, expertise and a strong network of cooperation.
It was an anniversary that summed up WTP’s path – from its early years to its current role as one of the region’s key innovation hubs.
