Corporate Social Responsibility at Wrocław Technology Park (WPT)

Corporate Social Responsibility at Wrocław Technology Park (WPT)

At Wrocław Technology Park, we believe the future must be designed. This applies to entrepreneurship and innovation, but it goes beyond that! We are convinced that a better world—where businesses can thrive and innovations serve all people—cannot be built without taking responsibility for what surrounds us. For what is important, even if sometimes overlooked, and for the challenges that modern times bring. That’s why we act!

The future of education

Projektujemy przyszłość

As part of our proprietary social project, we aim to design an education system that addresses the challenges faced by students in Polish schools. We strive to make education a simpler process, driven not only by practical solutions but also by vision.

We lead the “We Count for Education” initiative, organizing webinars and conferences under the same name. We have also developed the Plan for Polish Schools. Our initiative has gathered hundreds of people who want to work with us to improve education.

We encourage businesses to join this effort—our project demonstrates the many connections between entrepreneurs and the educational community. As part of this initiative, we published the report “Responsible for the Future.”

Pro Mathematica Foundation

In 2011, we established the Pro Mathematica Foundation, focusing on introducing young people to science, innovative technologies, and the principles of entrepreneurship in the most engaging and interesting way possible.

The Foundation operates the Technoludek Kindergarten and the WPT Educational Center. Since 2012, the Pro Mathematica Foundation has been a partner of the “School in the City” project, initiated by the Wrocław City Council.

Explory

For nearly a decade, we have been supporting the E(x)plory project, which includes the organization of the E(x)plory Science Competition. This is the largest initiative in Poland aimed at youth aged 13–20, promoting and supporting the development of the most talented young scientists.

The program’s mission is to assist gifted students in implementing innovative scientific projects and to popularize and develop best practices among companies, institutions, and organizations whose activities are based on science, new technologies, and innovations. It also facilitates collaboration between these entities and young scientists.

The world around us

Solidarity with Ukraine

We could not remain indifferent to what happened in Ukraine. Together with the Młodzi dla Wrocławia Foundation, the City of Wrocław, and the Wrocław Center for Social Development, we established a support point for mothers with children from Ukraine at 21 Legnicka Street. This center provided assistance to 30,000 people and collected over 20 tons of donations. More than 40 volunteers contributed to the operation of the center!

Additionally, we organized donation drives for those in need in the WPT buildings and supported the #BackpackAction (#AkcjaPlecaczek). We also funded 1,500 meals for mothers with children who were refugees from Ukraine, served at Cafe Równik.

Fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic

In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, we joined forces with the gastronomy industry to support the medical staff of the J. Gromkowski Provincial Hospital in Wrocław. We delivered meals to the facility, prepared by the team at Cafe Równik, a unique café on Wrocław’s Nadodrze where individuals with intellectual disabilities work as waiters and bartenders. This effort was supported by KINIA, a catering company operating within WPT. Thanks to our collective effort, more than 20,000 meals were delivered to medical professionals!

We also remembered the youngest members of our community. Together with Techland, we donated computers to children in orphanages, enabling them to participate in remote learning forced by the pandemic.

Sport

For years, we have been a proud sponsor of sports events organized in Wrocław, including the Solidarity Run, which has been held for over 30 years in commemoration of the establishment of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarity. The event attracts hundreds of participants annually.

We also support the Marek Petrusewicz Memorial, a prestigious swimming competition that brings together the best athletes from across the country. This event honors the memory of Marek Petrusewicz, a legendary swimmer from Wrocław and the first Pole to set a world swimming record.

Ecology

We care for the environment! WPT and our Technoludek Kindergarten participated in Wrocław’s EKOSZENIE initiative, promoting eco-friendly practices.

We also run the educational campaign “How to Save Energy at Home and Work”, demonstrating how easy it is to reduce energy consumption and benefit both the planet and your wallet.

On the occasion of Battery Recycling Day, we launched a campaign to collect e-waste across the WPT campus. Two 60-liter containers for safe battery disposal were placed in the Beta and Delta buildings.

Entrepreneurial city

Without micro, there is no macro

“Without Micro, There is No Macro” is our social and educational project promoting micro-enterprises and the pivotal role they play in the development of not just our city but also the region, country, and Europe as a whole.

We aim to show the residents of Wrocław how crucial micro-businesses are to the economy. We also encourage Wrocław’s citizens to support micro-enterprises. Through this initiative, we promote local businesses and highlight their situation, particularly in our report “Wrocław Micro-Entrepreneurship.”

Wrocławski Rzemieślnik Search Engine

The Wrocław Artisans Search Engine is a joint project by the Wrocław Technology Park and the Lower Silesian Chamber of Crafts in Wrocław.

Artisans are individuals with passion, talent, and unique skills in their craft. To help connect with these masters of their trade, we have created a dedicated website featuring a map with the locations of these talented craftsmen.

This initiative aims to support and celebrate the artisan community while making it easier for residents and visitors to discover and appreciate the work of local craftspeople.

A world without barriers

Training and specialized knowledge

As part of the activities of our Integrative Business Incubator SKRZYNIA, the first incubator of its kind in Poland, we promote knowledge and information on support for people with disabilities.

We work to foster their social and professional activation by organizing webinars and meetings tailored to their needs, such as Design Thinking workshops. This initiative aims to empower individuals with disabilities and create opportunities for their active participation in society and the workforce.

Cafe Równik & Art Równik

We regularly support the activities of Cafe Równik, a unique café located in Wrocław’s Nadodrze district, where individuals with intellectual disabilities work as waiters and bartenders.

The Association of Creators and Supporters of Psychostimulation, which runs the café, has also launched ART RÓWNIK in collaboration with WPT! This cultural hub in Wrocław serves as a space for the creative and professional development of people with disabilities. It also operates as a store where anyone can purchase handmade, artistic, and craft items.

Promoting student initiatives

Academic Box

Academic Box is a workshop and conceptual space dedicated to students involved in scientific circles from Wrocław’s universities. This unique program, unparalleled on a national scale, supports student initiatives.

We have created a dedicated space where scientific circles from Wrocław’s universities can work on their projects in a comfortable and well-equipped environment. By utilizing our facilities, students have the opportunity to develop their ideas and innovations to their fullest potential.

We increase the chances of success

We support students who are not afraid to take matters into their own hands and actively design the future. We assist in organizing academic and student events. Among those we have supported are:

  • The 9th Conference of the Polish Metabolomics Society: Metabolomic Circle 2023
  • The 19th Wrocław Student Chemical Symposium, organized by the Chemistry Faculty Scientific Circle “Allin” at Wrocław University of Science and Technology
  • Women in Space Tech 2022 by PWR in Space
  • Econverse Cup Wrocław 2021
  • The MożeMY! Conference

We also provide direct support to student projects with global and even extraterrestrial ambitions, such as the rocket launches conducted by the PWR in Space scientific circle.

We take great joy in witnessing how the student initiatives we support transform into significant and innovative enterprises making an impact in the market today.

Charitable actions

Collaboration with the Wrocław Center for Care and Education

Since 2018, we have been collaborating with the Wrocław Center for Care and Education, organizing meetings for young people preparing to leave the facility and start independent lives. We conduct various activities such as motivational training, workshops on cultural differences, talks on eco-friendly living, and basic programming and cybersecurity training. The aim of these meetings and workshops is to equip participants with additional knowledge and skills while also focusing on developing their soft skills and self-esteem. These efforts help ensure a smoother, less stressful transition into adulthood.

We collect bottle caps!

Our Technoludek Kindergarten has been involved in collecting bottle caps for the Wrocław Hospice for Children since 2011. In 2021, at the initiative of the Pro Mathematica Foundation, a heart-shaped container for bottle caps was placed on the WPT campus. This allows both employees and tenants to join this collective effort.

Digitalization at Primary School No. 1 in Wrocław

The Pro Mathematica Foundation comprehensively equipped the computer lab at Primary School No. 1 in Wrocław. Each classroom was furnished with a modern interactive whiteboard and a multimedia projector.

This initiative demonstrated that investing in educational tools can bring tangible benefits both to students, who are more eager to attend school and participate actively, and to teachers, who can use modern technologies to deliver engaging lessons.

Blood Donation Campaigns at WPT

At WPT, in collaboration with the Regional Center for Blood Donation and Blood Treatment named after Prof. Tadeusz Dorobisza, we organize blood donation campaigns, giving everyone the opportunity to donate blood and save lives!

The “Give a Gift” Campaign

The “Give a Gift” Holiday Campaign was a gift collection organized among WPT employees to support children and young people battling cancer. The campaign resulted in 10 large bags of gifts, which were handed over to the staff of the “Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową” Foundation. The presents were delivered to the oncology ward’s young patients just in time for the holidays.
